Welsh Upon a Holiday 0

Posted on December 26, 2011 by Journalismpost

Living in Wales is like having a whale (no pun intended) of a great time especially if you are a big fan of Wales holidays. Sadly but true, these awesome days are not considered as public holidays. You may not know it but actually these holidays don’t automatically give you the right for a time off from work. Spoiler.  You might just think that this mandatory work on holidays is only applicable to health and order workers. Well think again. Your boss might actually change into his sinister mode and decided you needed to come to work.

Well, what the heck, it’s a Wales Holiday; you now how crazy it can be; you can get drunk and eat your heart out for all festivities and good fortune that comes your way.

One of my personal favorites is the Calennig Wales holiday. who says giving and receiving gifts should only be limited to birthdays and Christmas, though I have to admit I prefer to receive than to give (oh yes I’m a little bit mean…… oh ok fine, I’m not a saint).Sometimes it gives me headache sending gifts especially that I have to remember not to give back the gifts to the previous giver. Yep, I’m just being practical. Thankfully gift recycling is not yet a legally binding crime. I hope I didn’t give them the idea to make it one. Guess what, did you know that I have to make it obvious that I want to receive tons and tons of all types of breads and all classifications of cheese, especially the stinky ones. Yes I get it, its tradition, but then there are some that actually go beyond the line. I did it too. I know that most of my friends wouldn’t want to have a stock of molding bread for the rest of the month and a fridge full of cheese. I’m just thinking out loud.

I’m also excited for the lantern parade. I wonder if it has its origin from the Chinese, since lanterns are popularized in East Asia specifically in China. Hmmmmm. That brings me to a deep thought. I love the fireworks too but then it gives me stiff neck. Common guys, more than an hour of staring at the skies? And saying “aaawwww” in unison every time a huge one pops out, I know it also gives you the stiff. Hope next year we’ll be able to celebrate it in an elevated area, perhaps on a rooftop building.

This three day festival is such a total blast! Take note that this is the only time that there’s a free bus services provided in town. you might be wondering what I would do on a three day feast, its simple, have a total freedom and enjoy the  heavenly benefits of this fabulous Wales holiday!

Travel to Hurghada 0

Travel to Hurghada

Hurghada become (mainly since the early 1990) more popular with East European and Russian tourists. Being a modern town, Hurghada lacks any historicalal or noteworthy sites.

Hurghada is one of the main tourism attractions on the Red Sea in Egypt. Because of that, it can be reached from major airports in Europe and the Middle East.

Over the last ten years the citizens of Hurghada have seen an amazing development. From desert sand has risen a town with more than 200 hotels, booming shopping promenades and vibrant nightlife. With ever growing number of tourist and perfect climate, this Red Sea Riviera has no off season. Hurghada has a special community where local habits and culture is presented next to resort lifestyle and behavior.
But the biggest beauty of Hurghada starts where coast ends – blue Red Sea is the reason why your dreams will stay with us. If it takes place in or on the water you can do it here: windsurfing, sailing, deep-sea fishing, swimming, but above all, snorkeling and diving. The unique underwater gardens offshore are some of the finest in the world, justifiably famous amongst divers. The warm waters here are ideal for many varieties of rare fish and coral reefs, which may also be observed through glass bottom boats.
The huge advantage of the Red Sea is that visitors can enjoy the beauty of the marine world equipped with nothing more than a mask, snorkel and flippers. The spectacle is of course even more impressive when wearing a tank and weight belt.

Close to Hurghada you will find many of Egypt’s top tourist attractions and most impressive resorts. A particularly favourite is Sharm el Sheikh, which lies alongside the Gulf of Aqaba and is famous for its scuba diving and sandy beaches, while on the south-western side of Hurghada, the provincial capital of Qena contains a particularly impressive temple complex. Also within reach of Hurghada, the city of Luxor is without equal and full of awe-inspiring monuments, such as the Valley of the Kings.

Hurghada Information :

Arriving to Hurghada

From abroad
Hurghada International and Domestic Airport, 10 minutes ride from city center, is receiving many flights through out the year. Most common are charter flights to Hurghada, which you can check out from your travel agent. Increasingly, regular flights are operating.
Before planning your holiday, check out the entry regulations. In some cases visa must be applied for from local embassy. However, for most of the nations, touristic visa can be easily obtained upon arrival from airport – either it is included in your travel package or you shall buy one from airport bank (ca 15 USD). The visa is valid for 30 days and can be prolonged for extra charge in Visa office located in El Dahar. Be aware that after stay of 90 days no charter flight is allowed for departure!
Upon arrival all passengers are given entry forms which must be filled for the passport control. Same applies to departure. Make sure that the passport is valid for at least six months from date of entry.

From other cities of Egypt
For domestic flight, ferry and bus routes please check the transportation paragraph.

The city of Hurghada is divided into three areas- Sheraton Road, El Dahar and the Promenade.

1- Sheraton Road (El Sakala)

Sheraton road or El Sakala center is the main tourist street in town. It is the busiest street in town with numerous bazaars, coffee shops, supermarkets, pharmacies, banks, restaurants and night clubs. You will find many hotels on the sea side of Sakala. Across the street are situated apartments for locals and foreigners living here (especially Hadaba). Sakala square is located in the one end of the main street. Here you will find many fish restaurants and local eateries. From the beginning of Sakala in a walking distance you will find an El Arousa square – a bride or mermaid standing in the middle of the road. The street to the sea side will lead you to Hurghada Marina – the new city promenade by the marina with luxury yachts and apartments surrounded by old fisherman households. Opened in 2008, one will find in Marina many shops (incl. some high street brands), fabulous bars, fine dining restaurants, nightclubs or just nice walking area for warm summer nights.

2- The Promenade (Village Road)

The second famous touristic area is called Village road (El Memsha in Arabic). More than 5 km long promenade with wide and clean walking area, mainly 4 stars hotels, famous nightclubs, restaurants with international cuisine, some mall-type shopping centers and uncountable number of shops. For a first acquaintance with Hurghada, Village road is more peaceful and less harassment for tourist than one will experience in Sakala area, but therfore as well reflects much less local culture and lifestyle than any other parts of the town. Famous spots in Village road include Esplanada Mall, Kottas mall, Duty free shop, Little Buddha nightclub and Hard Rock café.

3- El Dahar

And then there is l eft El Dahar. Dahar is home for most of the locals living in the area, but as well for number of hotels, city council, aquarium, library, biggest mosques and food market. In Dahar one will find touristic and not so touristic areas, although until now, most of the areas are safe enough to sneak around and discover the other face of Hurghada. If interested in shopping, Dahar offers you streets full of bazaars and good bargains.

AMSTERDAM — Fox brought theater operators at Cinema Expo a bit of Christmas cheer on Tuesday, tubthumping two December tentpoles along with a host of other movies. The Yuletide pics are 3D releases — fantasy sequel “The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader” and the classic adventure

“Gulliver’s Travels.” Fox international co-toppers Paul Hanneman and Tomas Jegeus gave way to Jack Black to introduce a 2D trailer and an extended clip showing the comic actor as Gulliver, wading into an invading armada to rescue embattled Lilliputians.”I just wish I had gotten my back waxed before we filmed that scene,” Black apologized to the assembled exhibitors. “But we can fix it in post.”On the international front, Fox is enjoying its most successful year as its 2010 foreign boxoffice has just crossed billion.

It’s the fourth time Fox has hit that mark — no other studio has reached it more than twice — and it’s the earliest point in the year. In the past, no studio has attained that plateau until December.Fox received a huge boost from 2009 release “Avatar,” which this year collected .4 billion of its international tally of .987 billion this year. Two local co-productions with Fox International — China’s “Hot Summer Days” and India’s “My Name Is Khan” — also figured prominently in the accounting. And, most recently, “The A-Team,” which posted No. 1 openings in France, Italy, Belgium,

New Zealand, Norway, Taiwan and Thailand, pushed Fox beyond the billion line.At Cinema Expo, the studio screened Oliver Stone’s “Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps,” which opens Sept. 24 in the U.S., and action comedy “Knight and Day,” which bows Wednesday in the States.”In a summer of sequels and remakes, ‘Knight and Day’ is a real breath of fresh air,” Jegeus said.Other highlights of the Fox showreel included extended footage from the horror thriller remake “Predators” and an extended trailer from the actioner “Unstoppable,”

which Hanneman suggested is “best described as ‘Speed’ on a train.”Also Tuesday, Universal screened the 3D animated feature “Despicable Me,” whose producer, Chris Meledandri, was honored with a Cinema Expo award for career achievement in animated filmmaking. A 13-year Fox veteran before jumping to Universal a couple of years ago, he was feted during a luncheon with a reel of clips filled with accolades from industry executives and “Despicable” voice actor Steve Carell.”He was the single most important person in building Fox Animation,”

former Fox boss Peter Chernin said of Meledandri, who is charged with building a similar unit at Universal.Universal international president David Kosse was honored as international distributor of the year. But in tribute-reel remarks, producer Judd Apatow said Kosse also has been known to make key creative suggestions.”He was the one on ‘Knocked Up’ who suggested we show the baby’s head coming out of Katherine Heigl’s vagina,” Apatow deadpanned. “I want to credit him with that publicly

.”In accepting the award, Kosse told exhibitors that he envisions international grosses ultimately contributing 75%-80% of global boxoffice, or 15%-20% more than now, thanks to emerging markets.”It’s well within reach,” he said. “When I travel around Hollywood, the first question I hear from many people is, ‘Will this film play globally?’ “

Christmas Ski Holidays ? The Perfect Stocking Filler 0

Posted on December 25, 2011 by Journalismpost

The Christmas ski holidays are a very attractive proposition this year, with Christmas Day falling on the Sunday. Many businesses finish on the Friday, allowing skiers to head for the slopes on the Saturday, arriving mid-afternoon Christmas Eve. With Monday and Tuesday being public holidays, even employees of companies that are open between Christmas and New Year will only need to take three days holidays from their entitlement for a weeks Christmas skiing!  Sounds good, but the prudent accountants may be raising two sensible questions at this point. The first will probably be regarding the cost of  Christmas ski holidays, the second regarding snow reliability.

The first point is an easy one, in some cases cost can be prohibitive, but in recent years the increased competition as a result of the number of new chalet operators on the market has meant a step change in availability. Couple this with the fact that Christmas skiing has strangely fallen out of favour with New Year taking over as the must ski holiday, and you won’t be surprised to hear that prices have fallen as a consequence. It was the week most ski chalets thought they would always sell, but when many didn’t, the effect was dramatic.  Yes it is still a week in demand, but operators cannot afford to be left with a ‘must sell’ week. A small premium for ski Christmas still applies in comparison to say January, but at best prices are on a par with late February. Unlike the New Year week, if you shop around you may even find some very good Christmas ski deals too (just make sure they are and not over priced ski chalets that didn’t sell).

As for snow reliability for the christmas ski holidays  first things first, snow is hard to forecast, it is lottery in fact, but in the last decade only one year has the Christmas skiing been poor, a year where you could ski, but with thin cover and icy slopes in places (something that continued throughout that season). Analysts amongst you might ask about snow depths at this point, and yes these are the best indicator of how the snow cover in any resort at any point is, but early on at least, they are not necessarily a good indicator of how the skiing and conditions actually are. Early on the ski season the sun sits a lot lower in the sky, the snow is skied less, and lower temperatures keep the snow condition in its peak condition longer. 100cm in February when the sun is high on south facing slopes can soon melt and freeze again to become thin and icy, losing up to 10cm of snow a day too. Contrast this to December when 75cm might lose just 15cm even during a sunny week! As long as the rocks are covered, a good base and good snow conditions can last days this time of year (the snow stays cold and doesn’t melt and re-freeze to make icy patches).

Our advice is therefore to make use of the natural break and enjoy the Christmas ski holidays in the alps. It won’t cost half as much as you might think, and the snow is likely to make for a very happy ski Christmas!

Essentials to Include in a Travel Guide 0

Posted on December 24, 2011 by Journalismpost

Travelling is a hobby that is pursued by millions and millions of people in the world. And some of them also go to the extent of sharing their knowledge and experience with others, for the love of travelling. The best way to share such knowledge about places and regions is by writing travel guides. This article is for the neophyte travel journal writers who are dabbling with the art of travel guides. Here we will discuss some of the essential things that you must include in your write up.

A travel guide can be as short or as long as you want. However, there are some essentials that you must fill in your readers with, so that they can find your efforts useful. Now, different readers look for different things in a travel guide – it all depends on their choice and preferences. If you have a niche audience in your mind while writing the travel guides, then you can focus more on what they choose to know about. However, if you are writing for the more exoteric group, then here are some important elements that you should not forget.

The first thing that you should do is, give your audience a bird’s eye view of the region or the place you are going to discuss. This is like a prelude that will tell your audience what to expect and prepare them accordingly. It will also set the tone and prepare the base for branching out into sub categories. Categorize your topics – even if you plan to write short travel guides, divide it into sections for clarity and hence, better understanding.

Do talk about the climate there for the entire year, the special attractions of the place and also how to reach there and about internal transportation. Include, travel guide the mode of communication that can be used and also talk about where to stay and availability of food and night life in the places you are writing about in your travel guides.

Author: Mike Joe is a connoisseur of traveling and entertainment. He loves journeying far and wide in the quest of experiencing different lifestyles and gathering information about the best places to eat, drink and stay in different countries and lands. Over here, Mike talks about Travel Guide.

The Schaeffler Group Developed a New Center Axial Bearing Unit 0

Posted on December 24, 2011 by Journalismpost

The Schaeffler Group has developed a new kind of compact FAG center axial bearing unit which can be applied in the bicycles used in the cities and in travel. Center axial bearing unit is put at the center axial bearing of the bicycles. This new bearing unit stands out for that its optimized bearing arrangement can bring the smooth running. Compared to the traditional center axial bearing unit, the new one does not need to be tightened strictly to the frame. The design has a positive effect on the smooth running of bearings. As a result, it will take riders less energy to arrive at their destinations.

The new products have higher reliability and require little maintenance. The principal axis is coated with a kind of anti-rot material which can prevent the bearings from the corrosion under the bad conditions. However, the traditional ones are coated with the zinc which has limited preservation function.

Taking the BBL66 as an example, it is a classical center axial bearing unit. It is endowed with components which have high accuracy and can bear heavy load. Even under the maximum load, this kind of products can run smoothly and ensure a longer rating life. They are particularly suitable for the bicycles that used for transporting goods.

]]>

FAG’s Cronitect? mixed rolling bearings are well accepted by customers. These bearings also have better corrosion-proof capability than the traditional ones. Since 2009, this innovative bearing technology has had much effects on the roller skating.

In terms of bearings used in the bicycles, the experiences of the FAG Company can not be surpassed by others. Friedrich Fische developed the manufacturing of ball bearings which laid the foundation for the modern ball bearing technology 125 years ago. After that, the FAG bearings are applied in the bicycles. Its products are especially used in the situations which require the smooth running, high carrying capacity and long rating life.

It is no doubt that the Schaeffler Group is a renowned supplier to the automotive industry and one of the world‘s leading manufacturers of rolling bearings and linear products. The FAG brand stands for the development and manufacture of high-quality rolling bearings. The FAG products have high quality. They can be uses in bicycles as well as many other places. What’s more, the company also offers customers a wide range of services including support, maintenance and assembly for rolling bearings and systems.

Russian Holidays 0

Posted on December 23, 2011 by Journalismpost

The most important Russian holiday is New Year’s Day January 1st. During the Soviet era, people were not allowed to celebrate Christmas, so New Year’s became the most important holiday. New Year’s is a public holiday while Christmas is more of a private family holiday. Happy New Year in Russian is ‘Snovum Godom.’

Russian Orthodox Christmas is celebrated on January 7th. This is the equivalent day to December 25 in the old Russian calendar.Russians also celebrate ‘Catholic Christmas’ on December 25th and the old Russian New Year’s Day of January 14th in the Julian calendar, which they used until 1918.

Russians celebrate more holidays than Hallmark Cards. It is just one more reason to pull the cork out of the vodka bottle.

The most important holiday as far as Russian women are concerned is “International Women’s Day.” This is March 8. This holiday, that Americans have never heard of, is like Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, and her birthday all rolled into one. On this day, the men do all the household chores. They treat the woman of the house as Queen for a Day. They buy her a nice gift and maybe flowers.

One word of advice: Remember this day as you would your anniversary, her birthday, Valentine’s Day, and Mother’s Day. It is that important to a Russian woman.

]]>

One big difference between Russia and America is that Russians don’t celebrate Thanksgiving Day, Mother’s Day, or Father’s Day. They don’t celebrate any of the ethnic holidays that America has like St. Patrick’s Day, Columbus Day, or Martin Luther King Day, although I’m sure they could get behind the spirit of St. Patrick’s Day one hundred percent.

Each former Soviet Republic has its own independence day that is celebrated like Independence Day in America, although not quite to the same degree it is celebrated in America.February 23 is officially Soldier’s Day and is kind of like Father’s Day where men are honored.

May 9 is Victory Day, where the Russians celebrate victory in the great Patriotic War — what we call World War II. Every man who is a veteran is treated like a general on this day. There is much drinking and celebrating to honor the conquering war heroes.

November 7 is the Soviet holiday that commemorates the October Revolution (which actually took place in November), when the Bolsheviks took power from the Czar. The reason it is called the October revolution is because it was in the month of October in the old Russian calendar.

Remember the parades in Red Square. During this holiday, the Soviet leaders wore those big Russian fur hats while standing above Lenin’s tomb. This holiday is still celebrated by some, although not nearly as much as when the Soviets were in power.

Pascha is the Russian Orthodox equivalent to Catholic Easter. Easter is the first Sunday following the first full moon after the Spring Equinox (March 21).Pascha is the first Sunday following the first full moon after the Spring Equinox and Jewish Passover.

This was the date that the Christian Church originally celebrated Easter.Passover is the Jewish religious celebration when the Lord passed over the houses of the Israelites during the plagues that Moses visited upon the Egyptians for holding the Israelites captive. The last plague, or curse, was that the first-born sons of all the land would perish.

The Israelites were to sacrifice a lamb to God and put the blood of the lamb over their doorstep. By doing so, they would be Passed Over by the plague, and their first-born would be spared.

To Christians, Jesus represented the Lamb of God. He was the Passover lamb. He was the Lamb who was sacrificed to save the souls of all people, not just the first-born sons of the Israelites.

Jesus came to Jerusalem during Passover and was crucified right after Passover. The Orthodox celebrate Pascha (The Passion) after Passover for this reason.

John has been married to a Russian women for over five years. He has travelled the path from finding her, to traveling to Russia, to bring his wife to America, and adjusting to married life. He will show you step by step how to do this yourself.
